of Music Degrees in the University of Miami's Studio
Music and Jazz program. Austin was a member of U.M.'s
acclaimed Concert Jazz Band for two years and was
a member of many original bands based out of South
Florida including the Music Lover's Club, a group
which performed at Carnegie Hall in March 2004.
Austin
has performed with the New York Voices, Joe Lovano,
Curtis Lundy, Bob Mintzer, David Liebman, Jim McNeely,
James Moody, and Ira Sullivan among others. He has
traveled throughout the East Coast of the U.S.A,
the Caribbean, Germany, Switzerland, Finland and
Spain performing jazz and original music. Austin
currently resides in Boston, MA and divides his
time between teaching, playing, composing, and loving
music.
When
Austin composes for the Quartet of Happiness,
he likes to convey an image to the audience therefore
his compositions contain elements of improvisational
comedy (skits) as well as being vehicles for the
group to push their limits on their instruments.
